A lotto shop on Molynes Road was the scene of a dramatic incident last night. A group of 87s tried to rob the business place and got trapped inside.
The Police were close by and responded to the scene very quickly.
Soon the 87s were trapped and realised they had nowhere to go. They decided to try and use the customers inside as hostages.
This caused the security forces to call for back up which included an armoured vehicle.
The officers started to negotiate with the men and ask them to surrender. They told them they can call their lawyers or any family member they wanted.
Eventually, the men surrendered as they were short on options and there was no way they could shoot themselves out of the situation.
To the resident’s surprise, when the men came out and their face could be seen, some of them were local.
People were calling them out by name as they knew who some of them were.
